I'm trying to put together a list of Brick & Mortar tobacconists worldwide for my own travels.  If you'd like to contribute, please post here, or PM me.  What I'm basically looking for is name of shop, address, telephone/fax, e-mail, webpage (if applicable), owner's name.  You could also include your impressions of any places you particularly like or dislike if you want.

I'll be glad to provide copies to anyone who wants one.  Just remember, it's an on-going project, subject to change at any time.

Thanks,
Terry

Terry, these are places I have personally done business with.  There are several more B&Ms in North Carolina that could be listed.  My first one, however, is not in NC:

Low Country Pipes
2 East Hwy 90
Little River, SC 29566 (near Myrtle Beach)
Owner:  Sykes Wilford

Telephone:
Local/International: (843) 281-9304
Toll Free: (888) 366-0345
Fax: (877) 800-9407

www.smokingpipes.com

Low Country is one of the best I've been to.  Exhaustive selection of both pipes and tobaccos.  Pipes from basket quality to multiple thousands of dollars.  Good customer service except around Christmas and possibly other "rush seasons".  Their online business keeps them hopping at these times.  Very nice smoking lounge area with plenty of samples always on the table.

Pipe and Pint
2500 Spring Garden St, Ste B
Greensboro, NC  27403
(336) 218-8610
Owner:  Larry Christopher

Pipe and Pint is a great little store.  They are a full-service tobacconist and sell between 200 and 300 different beers as well.  Larry stays well-stocked with a good selection of pipe tobaccos and a decent selection of pipes.  Very nice smoking lounge area with plenty of samples.  Larry is extremely helpful and accomodating.

Pipes by George
1209 Hillsborough St
Raleigh, NC  27603
(919) 829-1167
Owner:  George Hoffman

www.pbgeorge.com

Very quaint little store.  Well-stocked "pipe wall" and cigar humidor.  Light on pipe tobaccos but does carry some tins and several bulk blends.  George is one of the most knowledgeable tobacconists I've had the pleasure to talk to.  In business since 1975.  No smoking lounge per se but George has a table and chairs you can sit down at, have a smoke and catch up on back issues of P&T Magazine.

Pipes, Etc.
308 South Stratford Rd, #A
Winston-Salem, NC  27103
(336) 723-1269

Probably one of the smallest stores I've been in but still nice.  Good selection of mid-grade pipes and decent selection of tobaccos.  No smoking lounge but smoking in-store is welcome.

McCranie's
20910 Torrence Chapel Road
Cornelius, NC  28031
(704) 655-9055

www.mccranies.com

Very nice mid-sized store with a few pipes and tobaccos and a fairly well-stocked humidor.  Smoking area provided.  Customer service not the greatest but not bad.  There is another McCranie's nearby in Charlotte but I have not been there.

JR Cigar
2589 Eric Lane (Exit 143 on I-40/85)
Burlington, NC  27215
(336) 222-1300

Main web page:        www.jrcigar.com
Store web page:       www.jrburlington.com

Cigars are the primary product but a separate pipe tobacco room off the humidor with a smoking lounge is a great place to sit and smoke.  Good selection of several brands of tobacco plus bulks and a large selection of pipes.  Very nice selection of Dr. Grabow pipes and BJ Long pipe cleaners.  One of the largest selections of "drugstore" tobaccos I've seen anywhere.  Good prices on tobaccos.

JR Cigar
1515 East Broad Street
Newtowne Plaza (Exit 50 on I-77)
Statesville, NC  28625
(704) 872-5300

Main web page:         www.jrcigar.com
Store web page:        www.jrstatesville.com

Here the smoking lounge is part of the humidor but it is somewhat separated from the "business area" of the humidor and is a very nice place to have a smoke.  Same tobacco and pipe selection as Burlington JR.  There is some talk that the shopping center has been bought and will be torn down but I do not have any info on what will happen to the JR.  Will update if I find out anything.

JR Cigar
67 JR Road (Exit 97 on I-95)
Selma, NC 27576
(919) 965-5055

Main web page:         www.jrcigar.com
Store web page:        www.jrselma.com

Here the smoking lounge is part of the humidor but it is somewhat separated from the "business area" of the humidor and is a very nice place to have a smoke.  Same tobacco and pipe selection as Burlington JR.  This JR is unique in that it has a large snackbar.

And I have no idea why all the hyperlinks didn't work.
