Got this in the mail yesterday-a gift from Barry. smoked 4 bowls in it last evening. It is a really good smoker!! It will be added to my rotation! I normally smoke filtered pipes and the few that I have that are not Grabows or Medicos I have modified to take a filter. This one doesn't need a filter! Thanks Barry! I will enjoy this one for a long time!

Glad you like it Ed, If it put a smile on your face, then it's a good day.

Steve,it does have a nice feel in hand. It is also quite comfortable to clench despite it's size. _________________ The only thing shorter than my memory is a certain part of my anatomy! |

OS, did you check out the inside of the bowl? That pipe had hardly been smoked. I swear it was unused when I got it, as was one of the others that came with it. And the finish, do you think that was like a sandblast with a high polish? _________________ BWThomas |

I did notice that the pipe hadn't seen a lot of use. I'd call the finish a light sandblast.Doesn't have any lacquer on it to make it shine so they must have given it a pretty good buffing! If it were sanded smooth this pipe looks like it would have a lot of birdseye. _________________ The only thing shorter than my memory is a certain part of my anatomy! |

Ed, I've been trying for 6 months to get a picture of an Alpha pipe stand. Finally found a picture. I think this is something that could be done in any wood and would sell on ebay.

Shalom...Hochstein family...made the stamd in briar and in 1, 2, and 3 upright versions. Of course, the upright is removable and is a tamper. I've always thought this is a great idea for someone looking for a pipe related part time occupation. My gift to you, for what it's worth.....ted |

Thanks Ted. If a source of briar could be found stands like that one might be a good item to sell. Would not have to be top grade briar. Probably sell better than those I have made from firewood!! _________________ The only thing shorter than my memory is a certain part of my anatomy! |
