Howdy Folk's! Name's Emery AKA TheDuke. I'm a fairly new pipe smoker after 20 yrs of the cigs. I'm also a member of CPS as a few other's here. Seem's to me that my Dr.G's don't get the respect they deserve over there! That's why I'm stoked to have found this place. I've currently only have 6 Dr.G's but am watching more on the bay.Tried posting my mug for my avatar but it's not working.Keep's telling me-DebugMode 251 .I'm on Photobucket and have resized the pic for my avatar @CPS.....Guess you'll never know how dashing I am! I'll try posting up my pipe's in another area because I need info!(from lurking I know Ted's the man! )

Welcome to the board emery!
Glad that youve spent some time looking around and look forward to your posts. Sorry to here you're haveing trouble with your avatar. Myabe its for the best eh?
Just kidding....
I'm glad you brought up the topic of snobbery. It does exist and for good reasons. High end pipes are all around better pipes. Easy DGCFers... Its just a matter pf how much your willing to pay, or what added value you get for it.
There defineatley grabows that smoke better than high grades and this is where the stigma starts. Or rather, this is where you lose the validation of paying big bucks for a high grade. I have a $300 pipe that gurgles and can't pass a cleaner. So it lakes functionality and practicality. But I didn't pay $300 for it as a matter of practicalilty otherwise I wouldn't have bought it at all.
I confess to having purchased it for: the name stamped on it, and because I think of it more as art than object. I also confess to liking a $23 bent bulldog Grabow better.
Welcome,
Tom |

Hi Emery, welcome to DGCF. I recognize you from CPS. CPS is a great board but we just don't talk about pipes enough over there. DGCF is a wonderful place for us Grabow guys. I have learned a great deal here and look forward to continuing the process. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Best,
Steve |

EMERY....Think you are the first (other than me) golfer on this forum. I have a pipe for you. Unfortunately it's in Carolina and I'm not. It is un-smoked, made in France in the 50's, and perfect for a Greenskeeper.
You'll have it by the time Spring comes to Oregon.
At your leisure, send me your address.....You'll love it......ted
