The last thing I'm looking for in pipe tobacco is nicotine. Perhaps some of you more experienced pipe smokers can point out some of the best and worst tobaccos for nicotine, as well as which low nicotine tobaccos might have the best taste.

IMO, for low nic and flavor, think Cap'n Black, 1Q, RLP-6 etc...

I love bayou night. The end of the bowl tastes like nothing but nicotine. It can hit pretty hard.... But it is sooooo good! Very Happy

Peterson "Irish Flake" and "Bow-Legged Bear" (C&D) have too much nicotine for me.  Low nicotine blends that I like are:

A & C Petersen Escudo
C&D Bayou Morning Flake
Dunhill Flake
Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls
Esoterica Tobacciana Dunbar
Mac Baren Plumcake
Mac Baren Navy Flake
Mac Baren Mixture
Rattray's Dark Fragrant
Rattray's Hal O' the Wynd
Rattray's Marlin Flake
Rattray's Old Gowrie
RLP 6
1Q

If you want to avoid high Vitamin N content, they Virginias could be your best bet.  Also, stay clear of twists, ropes and plugs.

IMO, if you limit yourself to only a few blends in order to limit your nic intake, you're going to miss out on a lot of great blends. My suggestion would be to smoke blends in a small bowled pipe at first. That way, you will still get the flavors of the high nic blends without taking in a large amount of it. Just my .02 (due to inflation, only worth .01)

Agreed.  If you take it easy, you will have no problem with the stronger tobaccos.  But, as always, smoke what you like and like what you smoke.

1792 Flake--hands down the highest nicotine content tobacco I've smoked to date.  Made my very queasy for a day.

Anything almost in a VA, if it is not a twist or plug.  Plugs and twists, and many flakes as well, given the processing of them are high in Vitamin N.
