I just got some of this toby, never having had it before I was curious. I am about 4-5 bowls into the pouch and unlike so many others I tried before, I feel like I got this one right away. To me it is a real winner, a subtle amount of perique, with a little dark fired leaf to give it some strength, and a very obvious sweetness from the VA. Burns great, lights easy, and requires only a little maintenance through the bowl. This one I am going to make sure to keep on hand. Smoked it in my new to me and freshly cleaned estate Viking blue bowl. My first smoke in this pipe, I am really impressed!! I don't know why they stopped making these, if I see another I will be tempted to pick it up for sure.  Very Happy

I've been tempted to give that tobacco a try, and from your review I will have to put some on my next order. Glad you're enjoying both of them.

MM is Missouri Meerschaum. This has been a great smoke, I have put it in 3 different pipes and enjoyed it in each of them.

MM is Missouri Meerschaum,  it's only Meerschaum in name. They sell low end pipes. But for the money they are not really bad. I have the Country Gentle Man in wood, and Cob, I also have the General Cob. They sell one called MacArthur Classic, it's a huge cob.

I have a couple of their pipes as well, a legend and a Mark Twain which has a decent size bowl on it. I like a cob pipe now then, and have found they are great for taste testing new blends.

Not to be disputatious, but I find the Country Gentleman to be a lot better than "not really bad." To be honest, I find it smokes as well as any of my briars, and better than quite a few.  Cool

Ah ha!  Found it:

"Country Gentleman represents a unique departure among pouch tobaccos. This blend features a mixture of premium bright and red Virginias, which is enriched with Perique, and a small amount of dark-fired Kentucky for body. This is a tobacco that would be at home in a tin with a higher price tag, but to befit bearing the Missouri Meerschaum name, it comes to you at an everyday bargain price. Enjoy the naturally sweet, and tangy character of Country Gentleman."

Sounds excellent, will indeed have to try it!

This description is accurate to me more than most I have tried. For a pouch tobacco has surprising complexity to the flavor. I believe you will enjoy it as I have. The dryness of the leaf and easy burning characteristics may make it a good choice for breakin in new pipes for me as well. I look forward to what you guys have to say for your experience if you pick some up.
