RJ and Ted.These were in those boxes of pipes that you sent me. Thought you would like to see how some of them came out. I have more of them that I haven't worked yet. Been busy playing with this plastic stuff Barry sent me.
Before.

OK,haven't worked that sitter. The top pipe (bottom pic) is a Wally Frank, next is a no name Rhodesian that appears to be unsmoked! Got a chip in the briar right by the top of the bead.Bottom pipe is a Carey Meer. First meer that I have restored. Prefer briar....

OW-OW-OW.you're making my head swell again Barry!
The worst part of doing these was getting the 1/2" thick layer of lacquer off of that Wally Frank. It is rusticated in two spots. I had to re-rusticate with the Dremel to get the durn stuff out.
I cheated on the Rhodesian. Stripped the lacquer and sanded with 360,then buffed it with the cutting compound and the white. Shined up pretty good but if you could look at it close up there are still fine sanding marks visable. Maybe someday I'll sand it some more.

OS....It's "hog killing" time in NC. My wife always wanted a "silk purse". I'll send you a "sows ear" if you think you can......

Wonderful job. W. Frank did like to use the Lacquer. Makes me wonder if it was sprayed on or dipped.....

The horn wasn't in my box. You might not  have gotten it......ted

WOWEE!  Good thing you included the before pictures or I wouldn't have recognized them!!!  What a transition!  I never even realized that Carey's was a meerschaum.

I figured there might be a few gems in there (TED, Ed probably got more of the ones in worst shape) after Ed got through with them, but they weren't Grabows, so I wasn't interested in them.  There were some nice shapes and some interesting shapes though.  --RJ--
