Until recently I only smoked briar pipes, but a gift of a MM cob has changed my thinking. It really smokes nicely and cool. I did put 3 wraps of electrical tape around the stem to make it more comfortable to hold, but overall I highly recommend trying a cobb if you have not. P&C was featuring a 25 dollar kit of 3 cobbs and several otc tobaccos- looks like a good way to go.

My Country Gentleman smokes just as good as any of my briar pipes.

I'd be lost without my cobs, especially at work. Half&Half, SWR, Granger, PA Cherry Vanilla, Velvet... Good golly, you name it... old school burley, even the Englishes I smoke are all great in cobs. Cleaned out with my pocket knife or banged out on what ever's handy... a pipe cleaner once in a while... Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!

Hey Unc, the MM website offers a bag of "seconds" at a ridiculously low price. You might wanna think about it...

+1 on that! I really enjoy my Country Gentleman. Good smoking pipe at a very reasonable price.

Got a few cobs myself. A couple Country Gents, Washington, Missouri Pride and Legend. Carter Hall definitely goes great in a cob. And of course you know I'm going to put some SWR in one from time to time.

I've been a cob fan for ages. They smoke about anything well, but the burleys have really found a home there as far as I'm concerned. Not too stylish, but they get the job done in fine order. I have spells in the summer where I smoke nothing but cobs for a week or two at a time.
