"Eagle" pipesSomeone-somewhere on this forum once posted a picture of the DG "eagle" pipes. Tried to find it but couldn't. Anyway, does anyone have one of these pipes? I just bought one but the stem just doesn't seem like it's the right one for the pipe. Registration is off. It has a Yellow spade. Were these stinger pipes or filter pipes? Would like to add this pipe to my rotation if I can find a tampon stem for it. I buffed the snot out of it taking off most of the laquer which seemed to be almost black. It now shows some nice contrast. It's a big billiard-like them because I don't have to repack them every five minutes!

Aint nobody got one of those Eagle pipes--the ones with the Eagle carved on the bowl?

OS, I think everyone is gone for Easter. I remember seeing one on the Forum, but it may have been off ebay...ted

I don't have an Eagle or Buck DG pipe. Those are the only figures I've seen carved on DG except for the little single leaf.

OS, Took me a while, but if you haven't found it, at the bottom of this page, in small blue letters , next to card file is "gallery". It's most of the pictures that have been posted. Try it, you'll like it.
In return for my help, you must accept a "small amount" of #79........ted

No amount of #79 is small. It's like one of those black holes ... An infinite mass at an infinite density, although infinitely small.

NO-PLEASE!! ANYTHING but 79!! I knew where the gallery was Ted but did not think to look there!! I spent 10 minutes trying to find a search feature!! Wonder why we ain't got one?
I still have that pouch of 79 I bought back last summer-cannot bring myself to smoke it!!

I have been wanting a couple of these laser carved pipes for some time, but usually get outbid or they are too high priced for me.
I think I may have posted a couple of pictures of them that I snagged off an auction or two.
And yeah, was gone for Easter at my inlaws, spent part of a day target shooting with my family and the inlaws (no outlaws that I know of), spent a couple of days doing recertification for work, then another day running errands and going to a couple of Doctor and lab appointments, so had little to no time to enjoy the Forum! Did enjoy my 1936 Chevy though, because that is what I did some of my running around in, while contently puffing away on my pipe. --RJ--

EagleOK,since it seems none of you have an "Eagle" pipe that means I have the only one ever made-right? In that case I'm going to post it in the Tradin' Post for the very reasonable sum of $ 9,231.63!! Or I will trade it for 2 dozen Dunhills,50 Petersons or a couple of Grabows!

Oz, I don't believe DG made a pipe they called the EAGLE. They just carved the figure onto one of their regular production pipes. All of the ones I've seen were white spade tampon filter pipes. Probably, they were made during the Lane Ltd. years. Perhaps a previous owner replaced the original white spade tampon stem on your pipe with an older yellow spade push stem?
I only have 1 loose DG stem (for a TR WESTBROOK), so I can't help you.

Thanks DRB, I have a couple of white spade tampon style stems although I really dont want to sand the shank to get the registration right. After buffing I really like the finish on this pipe. Think I'll leave the stem thats in it .

I save a lot of photos of pipes, but unfortunately, I either didn't save many of the laser carved Eagle pipes, or I misplaced them. There are at least a couple of different versions of them, inlucding those like the one blow, and another with just the outline of the Eagle itself on the bowl:
Here is one in the packaging of the era, though you can't treally see the details of the carving:
Oddly enough, I don;t see a Spade on the stem of either pipe. --RJ--

That bent billiear is the pic I remember seeing. It is different from mine,Eagle on mine is not inside a box as that pipe is.IN the lower pic,I wonder if that band is on the stem or the shank?Do I see the letters La at the top of the clear plastic cover?

Bet it says, "Laser Carved" or something similar.
