"Sun Tea" Like Stoving. Serendipitous Discovery.Good morning DGC's, this weekend I was sitting on my deck smoking thru a whole bunch of Grabows. I had a "pouch" of tobacco from Gold Leaf in NH. The pouch effectively was a ziplock bag, and the blend was mainly Virginia leaf with a hint of Perique. I had wearied of it and added some burley (w/a bit of golden cavendish) to it. Now it was 50/50.
I was disappointed with the result and I expected more from it. I set the bag(gie) in the shade and forgot about it for the day. Well, when I found it again, it was baking in the hot sun. "Stoving" if you will. The bag had puffed up, I assume from the moisture evaporating out of it.
I figured I had better hurry-on-up and finish this tobacco, so I smoked it next day to find that the flavors had married beautifully and the results were subline. I fully intend on re-creating this mix, "stoving" it, and then cellaring it for future consumption by fire!

Could you get a temperature reading on that stoving, Sir Duke. You are in Massachusetts. I am in Texas. I suspect my tobacco will heat up faster. Farenheit will be okay, but Celsius might be better.
I've might've been stoving my tobacco without knowing I was doing it. A ziplock bag left in the car on a sunny afternoon can sweat and blow up real good.

73.02469 degrees fareheit. It was serendipitous and would only proably do it agin with "that" bag of scraps that we all have. The mishmiash of leftover remnants thrown into a pouch, becoming a bastard step child of its former glory...
"Sun Stoving" seemed to mix it up a bit, just enough to make it "better than just palatable - but wouldn't go out of my way to recreate" type of thing!
