A Tamper

Nothing special but I'm more of a whittler so working with metal, even aluminum, is awkward for me. Here's the result.

Nice piece of work!

Thanks everybody, haven't been able to get much done in the shop lately so it's nice to do something. Still prefer carving wood over working with metal.
Steveaux

I like it.

I agree with Ed, aluminum can be a real pain to get an even finish on.

Thanks, Steve, yeah aluminum is a pain. I didn't bother much with the finish though, it's a soft metal and going to get banged up anyway so I saw no need to make it shiny. Besides, not like any final polishing is going to make the grain pop on it.

Nice! Love it, very unique.

This piece showed up in my mailbox a few days ago along with a briar block that I'm going to drill for Alex. It is a nice addition to my collection of tampers and pipe tools ! Thanks Alex !

I really like it Alex, although I think it would look better without the brass casing, just a blunt end on the aluminum ,Maybe flared a bit?  but that's just me, I have to always be different I guess, but I love the looks of the tamper & really like the two piece.
