Ajustomatic: So easy to spell, yet so hard to get rightIt never ceases to amaze me all the ways ebay sellers can maul the word "Ajustomatic". One I saw today is the best yet:
"Austimatio"
I've seen "Aristomatic", "Aristomate" and of course "Adjustomatic", among others. The latter, of course, being an honest mistake.

Yes, it is amazing, and it makes it so challenging to do a thorough search of eBay with so many spelling variations. At almost any time you can type in "CRAYBOW" or "GARBO" as a search term on eBay and come up with a pipe or two.

OK, I just tried it. The two I suggested didn't work, but "GRABO" turned up a pipe.

Yeah, I forgot about those variants. I have searched on "Garbow" before and found stuff. I'll have to remember the others you mentioned.

One of the most reliable eBay search terms I've hit on is "dr". Almost no one misspells the "dr" part. They may omit the period and mangle the "grabow," but they get the "dr" part.

Why...in my significant lack of wisdom, do I remember the "correct" spelling to be "aDjustomatic". Check the stamping closely.......ted

It's not a spelling. It's a trademark. Like KOOL.

I believe that is Greek. Maybe it's from one of Aristophanes' plays? "Electra and Apistomatis"

Same eBay seller has listed a second DG Apistomatis pipe.

Wait a minute - maybe DG made a model we don't know about...
