Amazing Where Dr Grabow Shows UpThis was published in AD 400-361, Dust Control Techniques for Clean Rooms, March 1961, Armed Forces Technical Information Agency, Arlington Hall Station, Arlington, 12, VA. I just thought it was an interesting reference in an Armed Forces bibliography.
25. Dr. Grabow puts dust in its place
in manufacture of pre-smoked pipes:
central dust collector system. PLANT
ENGINEERING v. 14, p. 122-23, March 1960.
Central dust collector system reduces maintenance costs 15% plus fuel savings
of 25%.

Interesting! I'd like to know though just how the folks who wrote that knew of Grabows installation of a dust collection system?

I imagine if Dr. Grabow didn't seek out information before installing, then they definately "bragged" about it in the various professional publications when they were done. In the railroad industry I have seen this done time and time again. Sometimes the equipment manfacturer or installer will do it. A little shameless "plug" for everyone involved. Sometimes, unspoken, is the fact the company might have been "forced" to install the equipment, but in the end, they will "embrace it" and take every opportunity to talk about their innovative and forward looking installation, modernization and so forth. --RJ--

I suspect you are right. Even in the old factory we had a good system. Wheelabrator, I think, designed that one and Factory Mutual was our insurer. One of them probably "bragged".
We moved a lot of the old system to the new factory.
