Belvedere 81

Well, she arrived...the smooth Belvedere which was one of a few DG's on my 'hit list' over the last year or more.

I'm showing it along with the wire carved Belvedere I've had for a few years to further illustrate what we've been talking about in Wayne's "Viscount 81" ebay thread.  The wire carved is the earlier 81 shape...
- Widest part of the bowl is in the middle
- More narrow shank and stem
- Shank is slightly less bent
- Does not have a 'flat' rim

So it seems the wire carved would have been made between '55 and the early '60's, and the smooth would have been made from the mid to late 60's. The smooth one came this clean...not much to do to it.  Smile

Both of them are good looking pipes, Joe. Thanks for the comparison photos. You can definitely see the difference in shapes.
Thelonious Monkfish

Nice ones.

Very nice looking 81's Joe, you can definitely see the difference in the two shapes! Enjoy!

WOW! those are sweet Joe, and yes thanks for the comparison pics. I should have thought to do that, but didn't. This way you certainly see there's a considerable difference in the 2.

BTW congrats on the smooth one, she's a looker.

.....I've always liked the Grabow wire carved pipes. I originally purchased this Grabow/Belvedere wire carved Bullcap to sell on my Etsy store, but I liked it so much that I decided to keep it. A great smoker she is.

I've eyed that one for awhile Daryl, it is a beaut! Beautiful pipes JoeMan. They are pretty to look at, I just didn't care for the way mine felt in the hand, I guess I'm used to a 320 Sav (which I no longer have).

Hey Trey,
How ya been? That Grabow Bullcap was a find, and as I've never seen a Grabow Bullcap.....I had to keep it. I still have the Grabow/Belvedere Pot listed.
