Cob Cobblin'

As soon as they were available, I bought a Wizard Cobbit from Scott, at Aristocob. I really just wanted the stem, but that option wasn't available. I plug that stem into any one of a half dozen different bowls. It's great! But, what about the bowl?

The bowl, pictured below, was a bout 4" tall, and weighed about half a pound! The thing was just ridiculous. I'm a large mammal, about 6' 2" & 260 lbs. with hands that wear XL gloves. I could insert my entire little finger into the bowl.

Soooo ... since I can't leave anything as-is, I decided to commence whackage.

I cut 1 3/8" off the top, cut a new angle on the bottom, so it would sit, and installed a gently bent amber Danish bit.

Now, it looks like this ...

Great for Va.'s & VaPers. Still a bit heavy for clenching, but that's probably due to the quart of plaster-of-paris it soaked up.

As long as I have tools and pipes, the destruction will continue.

I like that one ... nice work!

Nicely done!

I like it, nice work!

Nice slicing. With the new angles you could carve the rim on a bench sander to make it look like a #25 cob.

Thanks, guys!

This is kinda like yelling "JUMP !!", to the guy standing on the ledge.

Thank you.

I've really been putting the miles on this one, lately.

As I said, it really shines with sweet Va.'s and Vapers, especially FVF, SJF, and Sutliff's Elizabethan Match. Tomorrow, I'm going to run some McClelland 2020 through it, to see how it works with a sweet, light-Lat blend.

Great looking cob sir.  I really like the bottom.  I wish MM offered that version.

Thank you.

Scott, at Aristocob, is now offering this ...

I kinda like it. At least I would, with a longer bit.

Yes, I saw it after your post.  I have one on the way.

Very cool.

Please give us your impressions, once you begin smoking it.

I will add, I have nothing but good things to say about Aristocob.com.

Scott is a great guy to deal with.
pwoodard

Yes, I agree dealing with Scott and his wife has always been great.  When I ordered my Elf Cobbit they were backordered so he sent me a discount certificate for my next order.  I will let you know about the pipe after a few bowls in it.  Take care,  Phil
