Deadly Weapon!!??

Just got this Mastercraft in today. I have had a few Mastercrafts that I've gotten in different lots of pipes that I bought on Ebag but this one is the first that I have bought  by itself. Liked the looks of this thing! Looks dangerous! I usually dont care to much for this style of pipe. Told the ole woman that if she gives me any lip I'd smack her with this pipe-when she ain't lookin' anyway! This one was easy to shine up.farly clean when I got it.

You gotta wonder if that was one of Gracen's shapes DG didn't select. It is most unusual. You must look striking when smoking it. Hopefully with a long beard. I think that pipe shape calls for a smoker with a long beard.
Gig

That is an amazing looking pipe, congrats Smile
Sir Duke

I like it!   Laughing

Beard? At 58 it still takes me two days to get a five o'clock shadow!!

That's too bad. A pipe shape like that will look best in the mouth of someone who looks like a druid. Beautiful pipe.

I hope ted will speculate on where he thinks MC got it (the shape & the pipe).

This pipe is marked Italy. Wish I could find a smooth one in this shape!!

Ok, Here's a shot.......The pipe finish is a "Bark Grain" if it's reddish brown, or a "Satin Grain" if it's black. A great many of the Mastercraft suppliers from Italy made these finishes, but most were only standard shapes. None....nary a one....was bought by M/C after 1964, and none...nary a one.... was smooth. That's how Hochstein bought so cheap. He let the suppliers keep their better wood for their better pipes, and bought the rustic. This finish, from all the suppliers that made it ,cost M/C $6.00/dz.

The above statement is "for certain". Now comes the speculation.

I am almost certain this was made by Lorenzo Pipe in Italy because of the shape. I've seen them, but when we filled orders for "Bark Grain", we didn't care whose we used.  They all went into the same box.

Now, If it is Lorenzo, we also bought smooth pipes from him and, best I remember, this shape was in one of his smooth lines we bought. If you happen to see on e-bay anything called "LLOYDS" take a close look. I've seen several Lloyds, but never this shape on e-bay.  He also made "OLD VIC" which was rustic, but carved with a nail bent at 90 degrees. Someone on this forum has one. Can't remember who though.

My certainty level on the supplier is about 90%......The rest I know...ted

Don't drop that scrapper on your foot.........

Ted,thanks for that information. Would be nice to score a smooth one in this shape! I'll be careful when handling this pipe! Think I'll hide it,saw the wife pick it up and make some chopping motions with it-had this evil grin on her face!!
ted

OS....Did she wield it like an axe?.......Time to "cut and run"........ted
drbridges

Indians used to smoke a pipe/axe combination, but they called it a "peace pipe." Sounds as though she has her mind set on pieces, not peace.
ozark southpaw

Yeah, I think she would like to have one of those piece pipes to use on me when I get a new pipe in !!
ted

OS...I'll swap you a bowlfull of #79, and a half bag of Edgeworth (Sorry Dr. B), plus a newly reconditioned (still beat up) Lark, for that "weapon". Really don't want it, but to keep it out of your wife's hands......ted
drbridges

If we read a new report of a Missouri man found in his shop with a pipe buried in his skull, we will immediately suspect your wife.

Show her this, Oz. It just could save your life.
ted

Yes, but he wouldn't be found for YEARS.....She's used to him being gone to his shop for LONG periods of time......At least, you have friends here. If we don't hear from you for a day or two, we'll call the Poplar Bluff PD.....

Thanks guys,I appreciate your concern!! Have hidden the weapon on the top shelf in one of those round 7day racks-in the back. Out of sight-out of mind-hopefully!! But if you don't hear fr

I think it fell from the top shel and landed on his head! Accidental Death.
drbridges

CLUE: Mrs Ozark did it in the Shop with the Pipe!
ted

And she got away with it.....Even Colombo couldn't figure out the weapon....
ozark southpaw

You guys are good!! Gave me a good laugh this morning!! Couldn't ask for a better way to start the day!!!
