Dr. Grabow Walking StickI have a walking stick that I would like to sell. It was made for me after a long ago knee surgery by an incredible artist in Sparta. It looks just like a Dr. Grabow even with the trademark Spade.
Let me know...

I am at the beach with the Grandchildren and, of course, that stick is at home. I'll get you a picture as soon as I get home on Thursday.

Sparta Craftsman and artisans are among the best in the world from what I read, and seen. I have had it in my head to make such a stick now

Sir D, I think what they're talking about is tobacco sticks for hanging harvested tobacco in the barn. When burley tobacco is harvested, the entire plant is cut off near the ground with a knife that looks like a cross between a hatchet and a machete. Then, 6 or 8 of the plants are spiked onto a wooden lathe and put on the wagon. They're hauled to the barn, and then, the lathes are hoisted up into the rafters, where they're hung between the rafters to cure. Words can't do the whole process justice. You'd just have to see it. Not many people around here still grow burley, but maybe I can find some in a barn and get some pictures.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Terry.
I've seen pictures of the process and can visualize what you are saying. Apparently this gent puts a leather strap at the end and calls then walking sticks. What throws me is that he said they are getting harder to come buy.
I would think they would be getting easier to come buy with fewer growers.
I am working on a few canes and walking sticks and have gotten crazy over canes and sticks: ones with history.
What also threw me was the "transistion" on this mans website regarding plub tobacco... Mind you his site was one of canes and walking sticks. : )
Thanks for the reply and when you get a sec, I'd appreciate it if you could 'ave a look in the barn!
