Dunhill Pipe Tobacco InformationAs most everyone is aware, there is a great swirl of controversy surrounding the status of the Dunhill blends. First, some blends were discontinued: The Aperitif, Elizabethan Mixture, Standard Mixture Mild, Three-Year Matured Virginia and I think Light Flake. More recently, rumors abound that the entire line is defunct. This link is for a thread on the Christian Pipe Smokers board which contains some fairly detailed information about these tobaccos and their current status (the thread becomes a little more informative on the second page). Please note that there are additional links within this thread that provide further information.
Also, feel free to post any other Dunhill tobacco information here. I would think personal sales and trades should be placed in the Trading Post forum.

A word to the wise: when you find a tobacco you like, buy as much as you can, when you can. This kind of thing will be happening all too often in the future. All the great tobaccos of the past I thought would be around forever are gone now. Balkan Sobranie No 759, Crown Achievement, Medal of Honor, Brush Creek, London Dock, all gone, never to return. Get what you like while you can because, soon, it will be gone. I know, it's sad to say, but pipe-smoking has always been a minority way to smoke, and if a tobacco can't carry its weight, it will disappear. And, there's not much we can do about it.

You're so right, Terry. I bought all the Edgeworth RR I could find and am still on the lookout. I've picked up a few Dunhill tins but these have already gotten as scarce as hen's teeth in my area. The manufacturers and distributors are looking at the bottom line, just like we do in our businesses. I'm going to try to stock up a little bit before the SCHIP bill passes too, it probably won't be long. After this happens, we may see more blends disappear - and retailers.

There is one up side, Steve. If a tobacco is still in its original package, and the seal isn't broken, it only gets better with age. I've never smoked an aged tobacco of any kind that wasn't better than the original. I have better than 60 12 oz. cans of my current favorite, Middleton's Walnut, on hand, and every can I open is better than the last.

Yes - that's what I'm hoping for with mine. I know the Virginias should age really well. The burlies, I don't know as much about their aging characteristics, but I figure it can't hurt as long as they stay sealed.
