Found two in a local joint

I was coming home today from a looooong couple of days of meetings, and stopped in a little antique shop that never has any pipe stuff.  Not until TODAY, anyway.

Pear has 9736 and REG US PAT OFF on one side, and DR. GRABOW DELUXE on the other...  Odd stinger, too.

Dublin has 9715A Deluxe Bruyere on one side and LINKMAN'S Dr. Grabow on the other...

Both look pretty good.  Cake in the pear, as though someone polished the stummels and didn't bother to clean them otherwise.  Both have the shield or whatever on the stummel and the propeller on the stem.

9 bucks each.  I LOVE a bargain.

Great looking little pipes.

Sorry about the poor pictures.  I'm having difficulty with my camera.

RJ's history places that stinger 1942 - 1944 or so.

Nice find

Good score ! The old Linkmans are fine smokers and the best non removable stinger pipes i  have smoked. Enjoy.

It's always more exciting to find pipes in antique stores than eBay!     The thrill of the hunt payed off today!  Grats Dean!!

These and one 4 hole KW are the only non removable I've kept, the KW is a distant second.

Nice finds, Dean. I never find tobacco stuff at my local antique shops. Once, when I asked, I was told, "There's a cigar box over there." Uhm. Yeah. Thanks.

The pear looks to be a WW2 era pipe. Most I've gotten form that time are missing the stinger.

Nice score !

If that's a plastic shank ring on the one it's 1942-43 World War II. The last one I refinished recently for a guy had no metal in it, the shield on top and the propeller logo. If I am reading R. J.'s information pages correctly that all puts it pretty squarely as a 1943 Linkman Dr. Grabow. My guess is that odd stinger is plastic, too ... no metal available those years because of the war ... Nice pipes ...

Nice Dean!

Nice score. Those should clean up nicely.

Dave, that's helpful info...I've got one as you describe...plastic ring, and non-metal stinger.  Good to know!
Oldredbeard

Very cool pipes Dean.

Yup, definitely plastic ring, and dunno what the stinger is...  Looks like one is '42-44 and one is '38-42 based upon what the stinger on the other looks like.

I'm tickled to find some "oldies" out there for a reasonable price.
Abe Frohman

They're definitely out there, I've picked up a few for 5-7 bucks a pop.  Definitely not as common as finding solid gold Missouri Meerscahums though (I've seen two MM's with 40+ price tags in the wild).
vwdeano

Yup, saw a "bone stock" omega for 85 bucks yesterday, too!

seemed a bit pricey for my blood.

LOL.

Excellent finds!

That's a deal. Nicely done.

I got a couple of the WW2 era Grabows one has the plastic band and stinger ,no shield. A 9540.

The other is a 9810 with a cheap thin metal band with shield and no stinger.
Deimitori

Nice pipes indeed! I like very much the A 9540. It's ring and coloring contrast is so fine!

Great lookers, Troy!  Bet they smoke well, too.
