My smooth Freehands; From top to bottom 02, 04, and 012

Good looking set, I have been meaning to pick up a few more myself.
Thelonious Monkfish

Nice selection, had an 012 but wasn't a fan of the carving, still looking for it's replacement.
TigerJack

Good looking set Dan, I prefer the smooth ones like you have there.

JoeMan

Fine looking pipes!!!
Tiki Vegas

I've only smoked one. When I got them were very clean.

TigerJack

I only have one and just got her in this morning and cleaned her up, I think this would be considered a freehand? If not someone can remove it ,the only difference I see is the actual shape of the bowl other wise they look alike. G'Day

Steveaux

Great looking Freehands, guys.

All I have is an 07 stummel.

The factory has stems.  Any Grabow push filter stem will fit it.

Nice looking pipe but it isn't what Grabow called a Freehand. I think this chart has all of the Grabow Freehand shapes.

This 08 I converted to a filter type Ajustomatic. I did the rustication on the bowl and bottom of shank.

DocBrian

Love the sandblast on the 'free hand', beautiful pipe.
That's a hell of a conversion Ed. Should pitch that to IPA.
pipesbywhitney

Great conversion on your free hand Ed! I don't have any DG free hands. All of mine are the older Israeli ones that are non-filter which I prefer. This is the latest one I restored and its an Israeli-made The Tinder Box Free Hand:

You are correct on the chart sir, but it is a Freehand pipe and it is stamped Dr. Grabow so as far as I am concerned it is a grabow freehand pipe, I do see some missing numbers on the chart so I am going so say this is one of the missing numbers LOL, anyway weather it was meant to be or not it is for me & I doubt anyone else has one and that makes it special to me.   G'Day Gents

They could do it easy enough if they wanted. Might have to make the stems a bit different. I did this one a couple of years ago and found that the Ajusto is a bit loose. Seems like there is not enough material to hold the Ajusto as snugly as it should.  I tried to tighten it up but so far no luck.

Very nice, I have two Freehands but both have an issue with the stem becoming loose. If I can figure out how to fix them I could smoke them again.

There is a split in the metal tenon , if there is not a ton of slack you should be able to spread the gap in the split in the tenon to tighten the tenon. G'Day

I imagine they could. Just a matter of demand or lack of I figure. Seems all forms of tobacco enjoyment are declining. Still a heck of a nice refit Ed. Wonder if a nonfilter vulcanite stem would offer more material for the ajustomatic to grab.

Yeah,a stem like those used in the Alphas might work and still look like it belongs in the pipe. An aftermarket molded stem would probably work also.
