Grabow Belvedere Restoration

My brother just restored this Belvedere, and it looks and smokes beautifully. I had a bowl of Mac Baren Plumcake in it on the way to work this morning. The little bit of brown on the bit is where the wax is still settling, and it turns a bit brown right after smoking it for the first few times. Just wanted to show it off.

Thanks guys, and I'll pass the word along to my brother on his restoration work. He enjoys restoring pipes more than making them, I think.

I suppose a good question would be: How collectible are these Belvedere models in comparison to say Westbrooks or other Grabows?

My compliments to your brother!  Nicely done.

It's over rated, besides it makes life fun.

Belvederes were made from 1955 until sometime in the late 60's. A few guys here collect them, they're fantastic smokers, but I believe they're no more collectible in the Grabow community than Westbrook, Commodore, etc.  They don't pop up every single day, but they do appear regularly.

Man, I do love a good Belvedere. What kind of wax are you using? I've never had any problems with discoloration after waxing a pipe.
JoeMan

If brown is showing up on the bit after smoking, your bro didn't remove all of the oxidation...some still remains underneath the wax.
