Grabow Omega? Nope....

Here's a Grabow you've surely not seen before.  At first glance in the auction (over a year ago), I thought this was an Omega with a rubber bit.  I was right about the rubber bit part...

Zooming in on the images, I saw this stamping...

Unlike the Omega, this has a 'true' P-lip...with the hole in the top of the button...

I showed this to RJ, who has provided a ton of info after researching the earlier grabow lines (including Deluxe, Tru-Grain, Supreme, etc).  He had not seen this shape before in Supreme...only the much more recent Omega like the rest of us.

That is definitely a rare animal. Very cool. And looking good as new might I add.

When was the Supreme model discontinued, and did the Omega and Supreme model productions overlap?

Dave, I believe Supreme and other of the 'early' Grabow lines went until about 1953 (someone correct me if you know differently), whereas Tom shared some time ago that Omega started in about 1975.

That makes it very special indeed. 53-75. I think we can rule out a mix up on the Omega stamping process now. And it looks to be a bit larger than a standard Omega.

Dave, I think it must be '53 or earlier...because they stopped making the Supreme line at about that time.  I'm guessing this shape just didn't appear on any chart...and they could not have made very many of these, since nobody seems to have seen one before.
