IPA Factory Mailout

Did anybody else get the mailout from the factory today?  I got a shape sheet, an order form and a letter which talked about people not being able to get many different models and shapes from retail outlets.  I wonder if our meeting had any effect on this.

One problem - the shape sheet doesn't seem to show a 65.  Can't imagine why, there are plenty of them in the showroom.  Well, come to think of it, they may only be in the reserve case.

Didn't get anything today, but I'll keep an eye out.  It does take forever for us to get any mail out here.

Steve, I didn't but would like to know who signed it. Was it Rick or Mr. Burns?

I think our visit most probably speeded up the process. We proved to Rick that there is still a market for things other than Grand Duke and Little Duke. I hope this turns into a pleasant surprise for Grabow.

I'm trying to imagine why the #65 is absent (other than just an oversight) and don't have a clue. It was inexpensive to make and we had the oval bit in ABS. Possibly they have used up the bits but since the 1373 bit was used only on this shape I can't make that work either.....ted

I just looked back at their web-site and there are no #65's there either..

Wasn't in my mail today, but now you have me looking forward to the mail tomorrow!  Maybe it will be there.

Yea, will definitely have to raid that case again when I get back to Sparta!!!  --RJ--

I guess we, or at least I, will have to put my money where my mouth was and get a couple of things, at least, from the mailing.  I hope it offers a bit more than the chart and offering I got in July of '08 -- like maybe at least one something "special"!  --RJ--

Well, this is great news, I'll buy some pipes direct from the factory!
steverino

Ted, it wasn't signed at all - just had the company name at the top and the address and phone numbers at the bottom.  There is also some language in it about the prices going up October 1, so we are getting advance notice of the price increase, which seems like a good thing.

I think the shape chart and the order form are the same material we got at the factory, just the letter is different.  If you all don't get one in the next few days, let me know and I'll scan it and post it.
ted

Thanks Steve. I tried to "sign up" early and seems as if I had trouble. If you've gotten yours, and I'm on next day delivery from Sparta, I must have missed..

Post the S/C if you don't mind...Thanks...ted

IPAL Offer

Received mine in today's mail. Yippeee!

Looks similar to the previous IPAL offer. Wish it included a wider list of options, but understand IPAL's inventory limits this type of mail-out offer. Still hoping they will see the value of offering limited editions under their Specials web site. That could be a great place to offer pipes they have in the factory display.

I encourage everyone to place an order. If we don't support this outreach, who will?

Still didn't get mine yet.  Just my luck -- they'll run out of pipes before I can even place my order!  --RJ--

Got mine today.  I must say, I was a little disappointed.  Don't know what I expected (probably a full-blown color catalog, or something), but, hey, I'm grateful I'm on the mailing list.  I'll probably order something, just to let them know we're still out here.

Nothing here yet, maybe tomorrow. My wife just came in here and told me not to buy anymore pipes. I'm looking forward to ordering a few!

Got mine today. I'm a bit disappointed too. Mixed emotions here. Glad to see that they are finally making an effort, but I expected to see something along the lines of the old color insets. At least , now this finally defines for me what pipes they are making, if this in fact is the extent of the catalog. Or does this just represent what they have on hand for distribution right now. Sure would like to know.

For those of you who have not received yours, or haven't registered yet with Grabow, here are copies of the offering:

This offer is essentially identical to the offer DG ran last year. I don't believe this represents their entire inventory, but is just a variety of shapes they have and feel will be popular.

I'm happy to have a source for DG filters. Think I will order a couple of smooth FREEHAND.
steverino

DRB is right - they have a lot more in the show room than they are showing on the chart.  I guess at this time about the only way you can get one of the reserve series is to go to the factory and pick one out.  I'm sure they'd send you one if you called and asked for it, but I can't imagine buying one without seeing it.

And DRB, here is a "case" of 12 boxes of filters on ebay.  I don't know what the factory would charge for shipping on this quantity so don't know if it would be a deal or not - just thought I'd mention it since you were needing a source.

The IPAL offer includes DG filters at $0.70/box, includes postage. So 12 boxes would cost $8.40. Bid accordingly.

Just got mine today.  Yep, bascially the same as what I got last year.  I guess I got myself too excited thinking about all the possibilities of what we might be getting in the mail, but like Terry, I am a bit disappointed.  They ought to let Barry spash some color on that "shape chart!  Color copies aren't that high these days.

The prices are slightly higher than they were last year.  I'll probably just order a Royalton and maybe a Freehand or something else just to take part in the "offer".

I wonder how many folks in total received this letter and offer by mail?  --RJ--

Well, it only includes postage if you buy a pipe - didn't know if you were going to do that at this time.
Irishlefty

I got my mailing on Thursday.  The smooth Royalton looks interesting to me.  I think they just mailed to those who signed up on their website.  Prices are pretty attractive especially since they include postage.

Whats the word on the 'special' for the Forum?
ozark southpaw

Got mine yesterday. Don't see a Golden Duke bulldog!!
TheDuke

Got mine last night after returning from 4 day's of bowhunting. Quite underwhelming! Was hoping to see a Lovat. Oh well. Will probably be getting a Royalton & a BIG pipe along with some pipe cleaners. Since I only own estates I guess It's time to pony and do alittle to keep a great American company going!

Sent my order out today!  Only ordered two -- a smooth Royalton and a carved Freehand.  --RJ--

Sent my order this week for 2 smooth FREEHAND. Also some filters and cleaners. Also returned a #67 DUKE for stem replacement. Will see how they do.
Flycruiser

I signed up on the website a while back and still ain't got mine. I'm looking into ordering a smooth Grand Duke. This may be a stupid question, but do I need to put "grand duke-pot" or is that the only shape a smooth grand duke comes in?

As far as I know, the shapes they show on the "chart" on both the web site and the mail out exactly the same except the mail out chart is in black & white.  If you order "smooth" or "carved" in whatever line name, you will get a pipe like illustrated -- or at least that has been my experience so far.  --RJ--
drbridges

Received my IPA order today.
2 FREEHAND pipes, properly bent, decent grain, stain looks a little redder now.
2 doz. boxes of DG filters, much better than the Medico I can get from my tobacconist.
4 Dill pipe cleaners, 2 plain, and 2 bristle.
Also a bent DUKE I returned to be re-stemmed, good fit, not bent enough to suit me, but serviceable.
