Lets see your Grabows - Sportsman Series

I enjoy seeing how nicely old Grabows have been restored and kept by forum members.

The sportsman series were available as far as I know as coupon orders only.

I'll go first:
#072 Sportsman Small Apple
Tsalagi

Very nice!  Pass the popcorn, I can't wait to see these....

That's a nice one! Unfortunately, I don't have one to show and that's a shame. I'm going to have to do something about that.

I have me a Westbrook Sportsman 12. I received it from Sean. I love this little guy.  And yes, for me the softybit is mandatory for clenching on this size of a pipe. The pipe does look kinda small compared to my hand carved, hammer shaped, pipe tamper. But, they are not easily confused.

How to tell a 72 from a 12?
Drifter-MT

I also have a Westbrook Sportsman 12 in my Nosewarmers accumulation of various pipes.  I look each search at Ebay for others in this line of Grabows, but have not found another since.

The 072 uses the same bowl size as a #72 Slim Apple
The 012 uses the same bowl size as a #12 Medium Apple.

Also the shape chart for Sportsman Series shows the larger size bowls tend to have longer shanks, although thats really hard to make out with the Apple bowls.  Easier seen with the others.

Yes they are hard to find on-line since you cant search directly for Sportsman Series, unless a seller uses that term, since they arent stamped Sportsman.  Got to recognize them be shape.

These things are really causing pipe envy...  Just don't see too many out in the wild.

I've got a 36Y that I love just because of the size, but these really look sweeeeeet.

You guys are enablers. Now I have to get one. Nice pipes!

Small pipes are attractive but I do not find them practical for me cause smoke heads right up my nose.

If you trim the fat edge off of a softy bit, it gives it a slim profile. Best of both worlds.

Thanks Gary and good idea Dave. But I don't mind the looks of the softy and I like the way it clenches. I just wish I would remember to take it off for picks.  Wink
