Lets see your OFF-THE-CHARTS Grabows

Lets see you misfit Grabows.  Grabows Off-the-charts,  One-Off’s, hand made by employees, Odd shapes not on any chart, odd finishes, rejects, cross outs, closeouts, number stamped with wrong number (TED called these Monday morning pipes), rare shapes, rare finishes, etc.

Maybe a forum member can shed some light on your "misfit" pipe.

I'll go first:
Royal Duke 36S with carving the likes of which I have not seen.
JoeMan

Oh, I might be qualified to play this round...   Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

Let's start with some Hillcrest madness...

Two of my 81s are not on the charts so to speak. The first is a raw one with an acrylic stem that came from the back room unfinished on my last trip to the factory in 2010. Finished it with a little rustication to remove some surface defects and it has been my favorite 81 since:

My other favorite 81 is one that Carl Purdy rescued from the junk box, used to develop his symetrical graining sandblast and gave to me:

Don't know if these fit the thread or not but they are exceptional DGs ... Dave
Spadefan

Great pipes Dave
pwoodard

Great looking pipes guys.
Spadefan

66 size bowl with very long stem shown next to 84L for length comparison

Not on any shape chart that I have seen.

If youve seen this shape on a chart please post it.
JoeMan

That's one long prince.  Cool smoke I bet.
Thelonious Monkfish

Not sure if these fit but here goes. Tom had provided enlightenment on the shape before but it escapes me, the 37 or 47 was modified to create the 67 I believe. Still haven't seen it on a chart. Golden Duke 67.

This one's older but is marked Dr. Grabow. Haven't done anything to it or found this shape on any chart either, 31.
Troy_nov1965

Westbrook 40 with a tobacco leaf rustication. Never seen another coupon pipe with one.
It should have never left the factory as a Westbrook due to the high quality standards of the RJ Reynolds pipes.

That tulip top is really cool,  looks like a 91D shape  but in a Dublin style and looks also like a Type I cleaner.  Also,  I dont recall ever seeing that style carving on a Linkman's Grabow.  Any markings other than Dr.Grabow ?
Spadefan

Riviera 81S
Thelonious Monkfish

Gerald, only markings on it are Linkman's over a script Dr. Grabow with 31 next to them.
Spadefan

Very small Viscount pot, smaller than a 49, stamped 29

Starfire TR-31 stamped 271

Wonder if these are the infamous "Monday morning" pipes.
Troy_nov1965

My little Linkman 9721 (4 1/2 in. long x 1 1/2 in. tall).
Its not listed on any of the Linkman shape charts.
Ive only seen one other and it was on Ebay in pretty beat up shape.

vwdeano

Geez, you leave for a few days and the cool stuff comes out!

Nice, very nice stuff, fellas...
ozark southpaw

Grand Duke 84

Golden Duke Lumberman

Color Viscount mini 84

Linkmans Deluxe 9705

Round Shank 83

Freehand Big Pipe

Starfire shouda-beens

I have a couple more but don't seem to have photos and thanks to my clumsy wife the camera is  broken !! Evil or Very Mad
Spadefan

Rare ones Ed
Really nice
Just how small is the mini 84 ?
ozark southpaw

"Mini" is exaggerating  just a bit. It's 5 1/2" long,bowl is 1 1/2" tall with an OD of 1 1/8".

It certainly is a small 84 and a nice one too
Spadefan

I think this is a shape #139 based on old posted pictures of stummels hanging on a board at Sparta.
Golden Duke 139S

Steveaux

Since I haven't been able to find it on a chart ...

Seems to be a little bit of a mystery.

Joe thinks it's a 79.

I like the look of that 33A, but it's more of a bent apple. This thing is 100% rhodesian.

I need to load it up with a heavy lat blend, and beat the stench out of it.
Troy_nov1965

Ill take yall's word for it , one thing i don't know much about is gravy ladle , bulldog shapes and i dont reckon i ever will.
JoeMan

It's a 79.  I've got the identical pipe in Deluxe, a 9779.
Oldredbeard

Joe's right, here's my 33, and it is more like a bent apple than the 79.

Steveaux

A beaded bent apple, I like that.
Troy_nov1965

Ringmaster uncharted tri- shank shape 2656.

Oldbriar

Some beauties here, my favorite is the Starfire Churchwarden!
