New Grand DukeI stop at yet another Jewel today and saw they had over 20 or so Grabows. They actually had one in a decent size so I walked away with a new Grand Duke Billiard. It's similar to my dad's old Silver Duke except it's got a push in type stem instead of the ajustomatic.
I noticed this newer Grabow doesn't say "briar" anywhere on it. They are still made from briar right? Stupid question? I'm actually being serious.

Push stems are the only type made now I believe. And they are briar!

It wasn't a bad smoke. The bowl stayed cooler than my vintage Grand Duke and as far as being a newbie pipe smoker it wasn't much worse than my Savinelli Natural that cost almost twice as much.
