New member here posting pic of some of my collection

Hello everyone,

I'm a new member here on the forums and I just wanted to say hi and post a pic of my Dr. Grabow collection. I have only been collecting for about six months or so. I am hoping to learn from the experts on here and also share in the kindred spirit of pipe smoking and collecting.

Welcome To DGCF Tony! Nice looking collection ya got there! Most of your pipe's look like there from the Continental series. Or the X-series coupon pipes. I have one just like the top right one(X03). Thought your stem was wrong being bent, but looking at the chart's-mine's wrong(straight). Also have the same shape as the one 2nd down on left, but mine is a Rustic SilverDuke. Enjoy your stay and the great info!Thought this may be of intrest to you:

Since I have really only been smoking a pipe as long as I have been collecting (6 months or so), I haven't tried too many tobaccos. So far I have stuck with your basic tinned aromatics (Mac Baren, Dan Tobacco, Solani, Cornell & Diehl...). Recently I purchased a bulk tobacco from Pipeworks & Wilke #191. It is the best aromatic I have tried so far, with Cornell & Diehl #734 a close 2nd.

Being a n00b pipe smoker I haven't felt the urge to get into the English blends or too many of the Virginia blends yet.

I haven't acquired a Lark yet but I am always scouring the internet for a pipe that is pleasing to the eye and something that I can get for semi-cheap and put a little time into restoring. Since part of the fun of collecting for me is the actual restoration of a pipe that looks sad and not overly abused.

Hi Tony and welcome.  Looks like your collection is coming along nicely, some really great looking pipes there.  I won't mention any names, but there are some fellows on here who can tell you just about anything you want to know about Grabows.  Also, there is already a wealth of info in the existing threads.  I stayed busy for days reading them.

Lovely pipes, congrats and welcome Smile

Welcome Tony!  Nice collection and excellent photo!  Some of the Continental models seem to have both both slightly bent stems and straight stems, depending perhaps, on when they were made.  I noticed the differences but there are so many other avenues of research, that I didn't pursue that further.

Fortunately, we have quite a few DGCF members now and several have niches of collecting and researching interests, so little by little things are recorded and new things are found out.

Again, Welcome!  --RJ--
