new old stock adjustos

got these never smoked adjustos in trade from my pipe repair guy dave smith from indiana for a box of broken pipes i had saved over the years anyone know the shapes? or years they date? there is 3 viscounts a 49, 311, one no number  a commodore 70 a west brook and a viking and 2 golden dukes the one golden duke is almost identical to the viscount but the golden duke is a tad longer and he restemed my weber scoop for 15 bucks he did a great job he has a web site to repair pipes www.briarpiperepairs.com and he is a collector. he is the only pipe repair guy i have known that when u bring up dr grabow he dont give u the pitty look he says there a great smoker. he has some nice grabows in boxed sets he has 2 uniques in the boxes but i cant get him to come off with them id like to have one of them there sharp pipes  first pic is viscounts second is golden dukes third is a commodore a westbrook and a viking fourth is a viscount compared to a golden duke

Great looking pipes !  The differences between that Viscount and the Golden Duke  are the stain colors and the Viscount has a cleaner/stinger while the Golden Duke will take a filter. They look like shape 69's, a shape that was used in many Grabow lines.

Really nice, congrats on that trade. Ed, I think those might be 45's.

Could be but they look --in that photo- to be too tall for 45's.

Lewis, does the Viscount or Golden Duke have a two digit number stamped on the shank ?

numbers

the viscount has number 49 on it the golden duke no number. i know finding a tru grain will be hard but i did find a unsmoked select grain, deluxe and a very small supreme. the nice thing about collecting grabows is they made millions of them lots were bought for grandpa and thrown in a drawer and never smoked theres alot of them out there if u look and have a little luck

im working on trading my pipe repairman for a cased set of 5 commodores 5 shapes he told me a good story he bought out a old drug store in a small town the owner was like 80 and ready to retire anyway CVS was comming in town wiping out all the small drug stores so he got a chance to buy the pipes he said he bought the displays and when he went in the back the old man had boxes full of old grabows like 200 of them new left over from the late 60s and 70s he said he paid 600 dollars that would be like 1200 bucks in todays money for all of them he has 2 cased uniques and he wont come off with them he told me he sold off all the medicos and yello boles and most of the common grabows but he has some very nice grabows im going to keep working on him but hes after my barling
