Pair of Linkman Columbians and a Deluxe 9856A

As you see in the pic one of the Columbians is a cigarette holder. I have one other blue dot Linkmans cigarette holder but it is un-stamped.  Bought this one on Ebay just a couple of days before the other Columbian arrived from Dave W. He had previously sent me the Deluxe.  Both were gifts. The cigarette holder appears to be one piece as I cannot get it apart. I really like the way the rustication was done.

The Columbian pipe has some rim damage caused by an idJit with a pocket knife but is otherwise nice. Stamped Linkmans Columbian on top of shank and MLC over Nuvo on bottom. Push stem, missing the cleaner if it had one.  All I did was some light sanding on the stem and buffed and waxed it. Also the tenon has a small aluminum reinforcing tube as shown In the 1914 patent issued to Louis Linkman (1104203).

The Deluxe was missing the little aluminum ring on the shank. Dave thought I might have one but I wasn't that lucky and had to make one-- from 1" rod ! I had 1/2" but it was just a little too small. Other than that I just shined it up. It has a push stem with aluminum cleaner.

Man, those are nice. Really like the Colombians, everything about the pipe and the pattern of that rustication on the holder is different.

Good looking stuff

Sweet, I especially like the Zulu, and that's some very nice work on the aluminum ring for the other one. The cig holder is neat too with the outlined spade in the wood. Congrats sir.

Great work on that ring, Ed. Makes all the difference in the world.

Outstanding !

Awesome work Ed!  That ring had to be a lot of work, turning down from 1" rod.  But man does it look good.

Very nicely done.

Thanks gents ! You wanna hear something funny?  This morning I got a PM from Gerald telling me about a Linkmans Columbian cigarette holder that sold a couple of weeks ago that looks just like mine and it did come apart. When I looked at the top left hand side of the listing page it said "You won this auction" !!! Shocked   Evidently I didn't look too closely at the photos or I completely forgot I had seen any besides the first one!  "Old timers" is getting worse I believe--by the minute !!  Like I told Gerald, I'll be alright when I get over it.
Of course even if I don't get over I'll still be alright in my feeble mind !!   Laughing

Think I'll put it in the freezer to see if it will come apart.

Fine work!
