Two restored Dr. G'sI finally got back to shining up some pipes after messing around with other stuff. The bulldog (rhodesian?) you may have seen before( thread-"Need expert help-DR. G. Ident) This one has the funky stem we could never figure out. I think this pipe has been re-stemmed. Still don't know what the stem is made of,but it is more like the nylon stems in Medico's than anything else I have seen. The face of this stem also shows some fairly deep maching marks, none of my other pipes with the same stinger type show marks like this one. Also the spade looks to me as if someone tried to cut a hole for it,really poorly done. What ever it is it buffs easier than vulcanite and shines better!! Only markings on this pipe is Dr. Grabow over imported briar. The second pipe is a Linkmans 8424 Dr. G. Select grain,pre-smoked. The bulldog was completely stripped and re-finished. The little Dublin just needed a spit shine.

I really like that Bulldog, always have liked the Bulldog. I've got two #82 , one smooth, the other was carved or blasted. Can't put my hands on those right now and it is driving me nuts.
Are these going into your rotation or are you lookin' to let them go to a new home?

Neither of these will go into my rotation although I may try a bowl or two in them. These will go on the shelf with my other dust collectors. I kinda hate to sell or trade off the older pipes I have unless I happen to have duplicates.
I have only filtered pipes in my rotation, they just seem to give a milder-easier on the tongue smoke, and since I smoke like RJ's train I need that!
I do have afew pipes I would part with. One is a nice little shape #54 That I bought from Tim West--but it has the wrong stem in it,a Commodore #36,couple of larks and maybe a couple of Regals and a couple of Dukes(a Crown and a Grand) that I have refinished.
