I see this term on Ebay every day. We have about 30 active members on the Forum......

Just what is your definition of a "vintage" Grabow?........

may find out that i'm a vintage graboite......so be it....................ted

I'd have to say my 'Vintage' pipes have the white spade. The oldest being on top of the stem's and my 'New' Linkman#9733 being the most vintage..a little before your time Ted! Buck up young Fella! Laughing

Ted - I think a lot of people use the term "vintage" to simply mean old. Based on my current experience level (not a whole lot), I would probably think of "vintage" being pre-1950. To me, the word "vintage" also conveys a sense of value, so I would probably not use it to refer to pipes that are nasty or broken in some way even if they are older than 1950. Just my .02.

I always thought that vintage applied to wines!? It's got to be the most over used term on Ebag!!

I've assumed the term "vintage" used for pipes on eBay just means "used." Kind of similar to the term "estate." Just means someone else has smoked it.

USM or NOS should mean the pipe is unused.

In my experience, very few eBay sellers have a clue how old the pipe they're selling is, or might be.

Now a quick story. My Granddaughter is 4 and visiting us in Fla. She knows what an Atlanta Braves fan I am. She was in my lap and we were talking about going to Orlando to watch a game.

Camille asked" Pa Paw are you older than baseball?".

I thought a minute about wooden bats, and worn out baseballs,and 3 fingered gloves, and NO steroids or Human Growth Hormones, and my LOVE of playing the GAME, that lasted till I was 40something.

"Camille, I'm a lot older than you, but about the same age as baseball".PLAY BALL.....with tears in my eyes......ted

Very cute story Ted! I to love Baseball and recomend you watch Ken Burn's " Baseball". It was a 9 or 10 part series on PBS. I checked them all out of the library last year and watched them one weekend. Great history of the game up to '94 I believe. I've been a 'Trolleydodger' fan my whole life. Currently reading a Koufax bio. Very Happy
