Wanted to trade: Kaywoodie for GrabowI have a Kaywoodie Bulldog in the final stages of being cleaned up (estate pipe). I like the shape but would like to trade it for a Grabow Bulldog or bent Bulldog. I'll have photos of it once I am done cleaning it up.

Yes, got the bowl cleaned and the stem cleaned but it needs the oxidation buffed out.

What line of Kaywoodie is it? Stinger intact? How many holes? ( in stinger) Shape number?

I don't know any of this off hand, except that the stinger is still intact. I'll look tonight when I get home.

OK, I finally have some photos.
Bad news - while cleaning the stem up last night, I scrubbed the Kaywoodie logo off the stem.
The writing on the shank says "Flamegrain" and "Kaywoodie".
The shape stamped on it is 12B.
The wood is cleaned, but not polished or waxed; likewise the stem.

AH, that stem emblem can be reinstalled with a dab of super glue,I have done it several times. Had that problem more with the Kaywoodies than any other brand of pipe!! Stinger looks like a 3 hole-is that correct? Stem oxidation can be removed by soaking in a mild bleach solution or Oxyclean,but be prepared for more work as the stem will need hand sanding-starting with 5-600 grit paper and going up to about 12-1500 then buffed(thats the easiest way-there are others) If you do this,cover any aluminum part with vasilene as it will oxidize in the cleaning solution.It's not necessary to cover an inlaid emblem,bleach wont hurt it.if painted cover it with vasilene. What type of Grabow-(filterd, stinger) do you prefer to trade for?

Well...the emblem went down the drain. Anywhere I can get an extra?
I soaked the stem in Oxyclean for a few minutes. I'll get some sandpaper, but buff it with what? I don't have any carnuaba/halcyon/paragon wax. If I sand it, will it turn back to black?
As for the stinger on mine...it's only one big hole.
I'd like a filtered one (won't put a filter in it, just like the draw better), but it doesn't really matter as long as it's the same kind of bulldog as this - I just like the shape.

Don't know of anywhere you might buy the KW emblem. I have taken them out of other pipes. I will send you a PM,have a pipe you might be interested in.
