Weird stuff!!As most of you know I do some weird things! Put flames on pipes, chop their heads off and make tampers etc Just for a change of pace I made some weird pipe rests . I have more pipes than I have racks or rests to put them on. I have a good sized stack of 6" and 8" wide rough cut cherry boards but dont have to sand or plane them so I've been making pipes rest out of firewood!
The piece in the back is my next project.

pipe restsThese I made some time back. That three legged thing was a root from a wild grapevine.
I used a couple of the bowls I've accumulated from making tampers and a chunk of Mulberry for this one.
That stem on the left with the yellow dot is a tamper made from a Willard that I made to go with this piece. Sets in a hole behind the Lady Grabow.

Thanks Ted,but I really have no "eye". I usually have no idea how a piece will turn out until it's done!!

OS...Guess I'm a "wanna-be" artist. I "dabble" in several art forms, but I really like to sew...cross-stitch and embroider......and carve with the tools I have.
Just like you after your ice storm, I have thousands of pieces of wood in my piles. The people I admire most are the ones that can see a face or figure in a piece of firewood. They.....and you....have the "eye", and I really admire y'all. All I see is heat. DUH.......ted

I wish I could see a face or figure in a piece of wood.It always amazed me how some people could do that!! I used to like quilting! My Mother believed everyone should learn to cook and sew! It was either that or go cut a switch!!

Nice rest's OS! Your tripod one remind's me of some coat/hat hooks I made for in my garage. The use of the dead bowls is very creative!

I've been trying to do something with all the "dead" bowls I have. Hate to chuck them into the fireplace!! Been thinking about a 12 pipe rack using some of them!

OS, I like all your pipe rests but I really love the one made from the old bowls. I have an idea you could get money for something like that on ebay.

Thanks Steve. Actually I tried to sell the one made from pipe bowls on ebay but had no takers. Also tried to sell that three legged thing!

People just don't know art when they see it. As a friend once said, "All their taste is in their mouth."

Just always have to tease me by working in that nekked Lady Grabow, don't ya, OS?!
I really like what you have done with the bowls -- I may have some donations to that cause down in the shop -- got tons of pipes that aren't Dr. Grabows that I need to sell someday and among them are some orphan bowls. --RJ--
