I think there is a diff. The ones called chenille stems (for crafts) are usually not cotton and are longer. They do work in the pipe, just not as well and do come in handy if ya need something long. They don't seem appreciably any less expensive either.

I expect you are right. Reason I mentioned it was that I have actually asked at the counter of several drug stores, grocery stores, etc., if they had any pipe cleaners and had to describe what I was talking about. Then the lady behind the counter always says, "Oh, you mean chenille stems!" I give up. |
