I'm in Lexington, BW, we can fix you up with some Lexington-style barbecue if you get down this way. |
I just may take you up on that Steve. I got the go ahead from the wife...she's willing to make a trip anytime I'm ready. So I figure that once were able to set a date for Sparta, we'll also make our plans for the trip east from Sparta to Pinehurst to see her sister, and you are along that route, we'll take the scenic 64. |
Cool! Hope you would have time for a smoke.

RJ passed on the red eye gravy. That's ALL he passed on though....ted |
Passed on it? I must not have seen it! Sure would like some more of that blueberry cobbler stuff with ice cream right about now . . . --RJ-- |

OK, finally got some "captions" or comments up for ALL the photos I posted. Now I hope that it is a bit entertaining, as well as informative and interesting.
Within the comments, I have made several shameless plugs for the official Dr. Grabow website, the DGCF and my website.
Now I am part way through making a few corrections and adding some names of the employees that TED was able to come up with that were unidentified.
So even if you've seen them before, swing by again if you get a chance and take another gander. Feel free to post comments or corrections or add information as to what the photo may be about. Maybe someone listened better than I did!!! Or at least REMEMBERED better! --RJ-- |

I wonder if the folks at IP&A have considered marketing Dr Grabow to "discount" cigarette shops? I stopped by one today and picked up a pouch of H&H because I forgot to fill my pouch before leaving home and found myself about 35 miles from home with pipes, but no tobacco. Besides lots of cigarettes, several common pouch tobaccos and cheap cigars, they had one lone card with some cheap cob pipes (not MM. I think these were made in China.)
I got to talking with the owner. He said he'd like to have some inexpensive pipes to sell because he sees lots of people who want to give up cigarettes without giving up smoking completely. The light bulb in my usually dim brain suddenly lit up. I told him about Dr Grabow and www.drgrabow.net. I'm going back tomorrow to give him Rick Wooten's phone number in Sparta.
It seems to me this would be a ready-made market for the Dr Grabow line. It's manufactured for smokers, not collectors. If they'd also publish a little "How to Care for Your Briar Pipe" pamphlet to go with each pipe, it might help a lot of people make the switch to pipe smoking.
Anyway, just thought I'd mention it.

| Terry, that sounds ideal to me. It's the same with the cigarette shops here in Lexington - they sell cobs and pipes from China, and one of them sells little glass pipes too (I quit going to that one). |
