If HB is anything like Mix 79, I know Oz won't be getting up at 4 a.m. to smoke it.

| Interesting. Everyone raves about HB on other sites and some call it something like a boutique burley blend. HB was one of the first tobaccos I was able to smoke at a decent rate and little amounts of relights. I don't smoke it much anymore because after awhile it started to taste ashy too me. I like Carter Hall better. |

| In all fairness, I smoked a couple more bowls of HB and it wasn't that bad. It does tend to be a little strong for me, but it's decent. I do like various burley blends and am working on Crowley's Best and Gentleman Caller now. |

Yes, GC is the first deer tongue blend I've tried and it's quite tasty. I've not tried the Crooner though have heard a lot about it. I was fortunate to sit down with the guy who blended GC and have a sample of it about a year before it came out, and I think the deer tongue was a little more prominent in the prototype than in the "real thing". I need to smoke a little more before making a full judgement on it.
Do you have any Crooner on hand now? If you like, I'd be glad to swap you two or three bowls of GC for some Crooner for comparison's sake. |

I glad I'm not the only one. I bought some some back in Dec. because I kept hearing what a great burley blend it was - not. I tried several bowls, but it never got any better. I much prefer my Granger, CH, and SWR. _________________ If you save up all your pennies and you put away your rocks, you'll always have tobaccy in your old tobaccy box |

| Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm finding that Crowley's Best is better if you like burley. I taste the latakia way in the background and don't sense much of anything from the perique - I'm sure it contributes in some way I don't recognize. Has a nice, subtle sweetness through about the first third to half of the bowl, then just burley from there on out. Not bad. |

Crooner was actually one of the only blends I've smoked all the way through. It's a frustrating smoke but I love that deer tongue.
