That's good news. So when are you going to start production on the ones that you might let go?

Well, I really need to get some spade bits and a tenon turning tool before I "start production". If I could get the factory to sell me some stems it would be easier. The method I used to drill the chamber in this one is not exactly ideal!! _________________ The only thing shorter than my memory is a certain part of my anatomy! |

Well, I plan to make a trip to the factory around the 2nd week in September. I'm going to beg them to sell me some stems to replace a few that I have chewed up. What do you think ted, any danger in that happening? _________________ BWThomas |

BW...Wouldn't think so. I'm "out of pocket" for several days....had a water leak at our place in Florida...but will be home whenever it's taken care of (certainly before the second week in Sept.).
Maybe it would be best if you call Rick Wooten at 336-359-5521 and explane how you are a member of "the forum" and were unable to attend the open house in July, and could you possibly get a tour in September. I think that will "git er done". I'll "push" on my end.
I'll be available whenever you come, and you and your wife (a tarheel I understand) are invited to stay with Joy and I. We have room. I'll give directions when the time draws closer.
Please remember, or remind me, that Irish Lefty needs at least 4 freehand stems. I'll buy them, but can't remember them while I'm in the factory.
I'm "tickled" that you can come, and know you both will have a great time. Steve may even want to come back up for another "dose". I know RJ does.......ted |

ted...I appreciate the offer. Yes indeed, she is a tarheel! I wanted to make the trip to Sparta sooner, but a trip to Wilmington a couple weeks ago trumped that.
I'll make a note about the stems and put it in my camera bag. I'll call Rick tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to meeting you and seeing the factory . I hope Steve can drive up too, if not I plan to stop by Lexington on our way to Pinehurst to smoke a bowl with him. _________________ BWThomas |

Actually Ted,tongue is doing fine. This pipe smokes pretty good. Thought I'd give it a few days rest before giving it another workout. The burnt wood taste/smell is almost gone. Gonna be interesting to see how it holds up to long term smoking! _________________ The only thing shorter than my memory is a certain part of my anatomy! |

This one has come up in rotation a couple of times since my last post. The pipe continues to smoke very good but does have a problem. The stem has a tendency to seize up in the mortise after sitting for a while! I opened it up just a hair and keep the alum. tenon and mortise lubed with a #2 pencil. Be nice if the tenon was Delrin.
