Very cool.  If they send these out to some vendors (i.e. WVSmokeshop)...I think they'd sell like hotcakes.

Welcome to the forum Bubbagumpshrimp. Glad to have ya!

Unfortunately, while you may very well be right, their letter says that they will only be available to the mail order customers.

If you get a moment, slide over to the introduction thread and tell us a bit about yourself. I'm sure everyone would be happy to give you a warm DGCF welcome. Very Happy

Oh, well.  I've gotten their mail order advertisements in the past.  I'll have to check into that.

Will do.

Guys...I don't get IP&A stuff via snail mail, I receive email.  You can sign up on the Grabow website and have their stuff emailed to you, OR, PM me your full name, address and email address and I'll send it on to Debbie at the factory and she'll get you in the system.

Here are the images they sent for the D Day pipes, as well as the info.  FYI, Sean already pointed out that these have hard rubber (vulcanite) stems, and I've confirmed that they are push-filter tenon.

Special D-Day Memorial Pipes from Dr Grabow

It is just over 70 years since the epic Allied landings on the Normandy coast of France started on June 6, 1944. Under the overall command of Gen Dwight D Eisenhower around 150,000 allied soldiers supported by thousands of airborne troops, 5,000 ships from 8 different navies and 11,000 aircraft, landed in France on five designated beaches.
American forces landed on Omaha and Utah beaches with British and Canadian forces landing on Gold, Juno and Sword beaches. Casualties were heaviest on Omaha beach where some 2,000 American soldiers were killed on day 1. In all, the allies suffered at least 10,000 casualties on D-Day with some 4,414 killed.

It was the start of a campaign that, in conjunction with the allied offensive in Italy and the Russian offensive on the Eastern front, would ultimately result in the liberation of Europe. Some 60,000 French civilians were killed during the Normandy campaign with thousands of French villages, towns and cities destroyed as the German army put up strong resistance as they retreated.
One of the largest, most magnificent and beautiful D-Day memorials in the world is located in the small down of Bedford, Virginia which had 23 of its men killed either on D-Day or soon thereafter – proportionately more than any town in the United States.

It also commemorates the 12 Allied nations which took part in the D-Day operations including thousands from countries as far away as New Zealand.
We urge you to visit this memorial and pay homage to the men who successfully launched the largest invasion the world has ever seen, but, in particular, to acknowledge the men from all corners of the world who gave their lives so that this remarkable adventure could succeed.

In memory of D-Day and the men who fought and died in Normandy, Dr Grabow pipes is proud to present a selection of four special pipes marking the United States contribution to this great invasion.

Dr Grabow Omaha

Two pipes, one straight and one bent, with a rustic finish will be uniquely stamped with the name Omaha.

Dr Grabow Utah

Again two pipes, one straight and one bent, with a smooth finish will be uniquely stamped with the name Utah.

Both the Omaha and Utah pipes are made from especially hand-selected briar wood and go carefully through the 52 stages of hand-crafting that Dr Grabow pipes are famous for.

The pipes are stained with a unique, light reddish-brown stain which highlights the natural grain of the briar wood.

For the first time these Dr Grabow special pipes will have a firm mouthpiece made from Vulcanite which gives a softer ‘bite’ than plastic.

These special D-Day commemorative pipes are only available to our mail order customers and will not be available in stores.

They will be presented to you in a grey, soft, velvet drawstring bag ensuring the pipes do not get damaged in transit.

The price for the rustic finish Omaha pipes will be $33.00 and for the smooth finish, Utah pipes, the price will be $34.00.

Please note carefully which variant you want on the Order Form.
We hope you enjoy your choice of these pipes which we are proud to produce in memory of this most extraordinary undertaking in military history.

Thanks Joe. Rick mentioned this during our tour, but I didn't expect this kind of "roll out".

I'm impressed and delighted that this may be a future direction for Grabow to cover the loss of CVS.  td

I agree!  It's neat that they brought back the Ajustomatic though.  And it would be cool to own any of those D-day pipes.
Joe,  I'd like to get in on the IP&A stuff!  You have all of my information to send to Debbie?
I would appreciate that very much!
Gary

Nice! My letter doesn't even have pics. I need to sign up for that. If I can get the order forms as a .doc, I'll make them a .pdf so they can be posted here.

After downloading and opening the PDF's in the email my first question was --where's the order form for the Utah and Omaha pipes?

Agree!

Tom, have you asked Rick how many unsold Grabows came rolling back into the factory from CVS for credit?  I shudder to think of it.  They sold a ton of'em at 50 & 75% off (which I bet would mean Grabow owes them $$ since the margin was erased), but they didn't sell'em all and Rick told us during our tour that they'd have to take'm back.  Ouch.
