I promised ted that I'd fix the Calabash and send it back. He was glad to hrar it but didn't want it back. I did fix it but was to find it was a BRIAR calabash which made it a bit more difficult than had it been a gourd.
I turned a new bowl from Olve Wood from Bethlehem. It fits nice and has a nice draw. The rim of the bowl and the rim of the pipe don't really set as well as I would have liked but I did my best. It smokes nice. The original brair insert was dropped into the Atalantic Ocean! If it should drift buy anyone on the coast or even across the pond, please send it back.
This pipe has found a good home and along with the Viking Jr., now reside in Boston. I feel fortunate to be raising them right. Thanks ted!

| A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E.L.Y. FANTASTIC. What a restoration. For its size it was always a comfortable smoke. I hope you enjoy it as much as i have enjoyed just seeing your work. Sparta could have used you! |

Ah! I am genuinely glad to find out THEY DID, IN FACT, find a GOOD HOME after all!
If the briar insert drifts up on the beach at Galveston, believe me, you will NOT want it back. It would be akin to retrieving it from a septic system. --RJ-- |

RE: The Olivewood bowl above:
| Quote: | Mastercraft imported some olive wood pipes as a trial in about 78' used on Collectors Choice cards and never re-ordered. Collector's choice cards were Mastercraft display card...
held 24 pieces, including a few Tyrolean cherry and other really fancy stuff to catch the eye...Rest were just regular Mastercrafts.
Grabow tried several different woods in the late 80's including: Zebra wood and Bubinga which made very pretty, very durable pipes.
