You guys know I just started back to smoking a pipe after a 45 year hiatus.  I have almost finished off my pack of PA and had wifee bring home a pouch of CH today.  I tried a bowl in a corncob pipe that came in the mail today and it seemed REALLY mild to me.  I am wondering if I mix some PA with it if it will add a little bit of tang to it.
Question: Have any of you ever mixed the two together... if so, what was your impression?

i've mixed the two--in fact i think many do this---it makes the blend a bit  stronger, but not by all that much--

one twist i like is to take PA and mix in about 10% blending Latakia--i haven't done it with Carter Hall, but i don't see why it wouldn't work just as well--

I believe that I read somewhere that Latakia has a hint of vanilla.  Where would I get some Latakia if I wanted a small amount of it to try?

Wow!  I took a couple of pinches of PA and mixed it with a couple of pinches of CH and smoked it in a corncob pipe this morning.  It was good!  I can still taste the great flavor of the PA but it was toned down just a little bit.  So far this is the best bowl I have smoked.
I think I'll call this my PATCH blend.

I know some of you will see this as an act of sacrilege, and I don't blame you.  I am just in the mood to experiment and this is all that I have on hand.  I am now trying a bowl with 1 part PA to 2 parts CH... not too shabby.

I like to mix PA and CH. Another one I like to mix with either one is Middletons Walnut. I like the Walnut straight up,but can't smoke more than a bowl or two. Mixed with PA or CH it makes a nice all day smoke for me.

I've tried neither, but PA was my great grandfathers favorite

And you are not curious about how PA tastes in your pipe?

Oh I am! Just nowhere around here carries it, and when I order tobacco I forget about it. I'll get around to it sooner or later.
