Gonna try this.

I have changed my mind as to the Grabow 84L, 19L, and keep the same things that have been said about the 37L. The "L" means LARGER.

Today I smoked an Emperor Canadian. Is it an 84 or 84L? Fortunately there is a shape stamped 84L and an 84 in my rotation. Its an 84L.

Grabow in the 50/60's made 3 bents. 57 (for Lark and Duke), 37, and 47.
There was such demand for bents that Grabow up-sized the 37 to 37L, and downsized the 37 to the 67, and kept the 57 and 47. Today its 57, 67, 37L, and 47.

In the 50's/60's Grabow must have had so much MF 3-4 or MF 4-5 ebischons that they were wasting so much wood making the 84 that they decided to make a larger version... 84L

The 19 is made from an "R" cut block turned sideways. I have no clue as to why Grabow made a 19L. The width is much more important than the height. If anyone has a shape stamped 19L  I'd love to see a picture.. Have several #19's.   td

If that is the Emperor 84 you got from me I thought it might be an "L". Probably the largest 84 I've had.

And by larger size, would that indicate only the bowl size?  Or also overall length?  The bowl size makes sense...because I've seen Starfire 84's which have had both more of a medium bowl and also large bowl.  Heck, I've got Hillcrest 84's whose bowl size is very different.  If L primarily represents bowl size, then I've got some 84's and some 84L's.

I had (and sold) a Starfire which was stamped 37L.  If it had not been stamped, I'd have thought it was a 47 which was maybe a tiny bit smaller than other 47's.  So L representing large makes a lot of sense to me.

I have never seen a 19L.  I'm not chart savvy enough to know if it's on there either.

Thanks Tom.
